Clothed Massage

Client-patients do not need to be undressed to benefit from massage therapy here. It is normal to have some reservations about receiving a massage unclothed; and we get it! We respect your body boundaries here.

Why we offer Clothed Massage Sessions

It’s essential to create a comfortable and welcoming enviroment for all those who are desiring massage through self-care. We understand that many individuals have body image concerns or conditions like rashes or burns which makes them self-conscious or uncomfortable with direct skin-to-skin contact. People may also find the idea immodest of being unclothed and we understand. It is not the place of a Massage Therapist to pass judgment on individuals decisions to be clothed during a massage, and we want to ensure that we are offering services that everybody can benefit from, clothed or unclothed.

Effectiveness

Licensed Massage Therapist can effectively work on muscles through pressure applied by their hands even when the client is clothed. Though it will not be the same as a traditional oil or lotion-based massage, applied pressure and other massage modalities and techniques can leave clients feeling lighter, more relaxed and looser after clothed massage sessions. Here in clothed massage session’s we use a special silk cloth that help glide over clothing which provides a smooth flow.

Main Modalities for Clothed Massage used at Massage Therapeutics are:

  • Trigger Point Therapy: This technique can be done with clothing on. It focuses on releasing specific muscle knots or trigger points.

  • Acupressure or Tender Point Therapy: Similar to acupuncture but without needles, acupressure involves applying pressure to specific points on the body. Clients can keep their clothes on during acupressure sessions.

  • Reflexology: In reflexology, therapists stimulate specific points on the hands and feet to affect the entire body.

What kind of clothes should individuals wear?

Not all clothing will work for clothed massage; fabrics that are thick such as denim, are harder to work with. We ask that clients wear thin, form-fitting clothing; such as tights, biker tights/shorts, yoga pants, long sleeve tight-fitting shirts. Sleeveless t-shirts, a tank top, a sports bra, and shorts can also be worn if clients are okay with having some portions of the body unclothed.

The most important thing to us is that you are comfortable. Clients are encouraged to wear what feels most comfortable to them and we will try our best to work with and around that.
